Associate Director / Director – Building Surveying

We’re excited to support the expansion of a progressive building consultancy, recruiting a talented Associate Director or Director (Building Surveying) to their new London office. You will take a lead role in shaping their growth and reputation in the capital and surrounding regions.

This is a rare chance to step into a senior leadership role in a firm known for combining technical excellence with forward-thinking values. You’ll be central in delivering high-impact surveying services, managing teams, driving business development, and helping integrate the London office into the wider business.

Role & Responsibilities of the Associate Director / Director:

  • Lead delivery of high-level building surveying services across commercial, residential, heritage, and public sector projects
  • Provide strategic oversight and quality assurance on complex survey instructions (dilapidations, condition surveys, reinstatement cost assessments, party wall work, defect diagnosis, etc.)
  • Manage and mentor a team of surveyors, fostering technical growth and consistency of output
  • Drive new business in London and the South, expanding client relationships and securing new commissions
  • Oversee contract negotiations, fee proposals, and client-facing interactions
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (project management, consultancy) to deliver integrated services

Skills & Experience of the Associate Director / Director:

  • MRICS qualified
  • Significant experience in senior building surveying roles within consultancy environments
  • Strong technical capability across a broad spectrum of surveying services
  • Proven track record in business development and client relationships
  • Leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring survey teams
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
