- Client Side Senior Building Surveyor – Reading / UK-Wide Portfolio
- £75,000 + £5k Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a growing real estate investment and asset management business in a client-side role.
The position will have a strong focus on delivering unit refurbishments and capital projects across a varied commercial property portfolio. You’ll take responsibility for getting vacant units ready for re-letting, managing contractors and consultants, and delivering improvement projects that directly support leasing performance and asset value. You’ll also gain exposure to acquisitions, technical due diligence, compliance and wider asset management strategy.
Role & Responsibilities of the Building Surveyor:
- Scope, specify and deliver refurbishment works to vacant commercial units ahead of re-letting
- Manage multiple refurbishment projects simultaneously, ensuring works meet leasing deadlines
- Appoint and manage contractors, consultants and professional teams
- Lead capital projects including roof replacements, fabric upgrades, M&E works, façades and common area improvements
- Prepare project budgets and cost plans and monitor expenditure
- Undertake practical completion inspections, snagging and defects management
- Provide technical input into property acquisitions and disposals, including building condition, defects and future CapEx requirements
- Identify future capital expenditure requirements across the portfolio
- Provide technical advice on planned and reactive maintenance and statutory compliance
- Provide technical input on dilapidations and other landlord & tenant matters
- Work closely with Asset Management and Investment teams to ensure projects support wider portfolio objectives
Skills & Experience:
- Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related RICS-accredited discipline
- MRICS qualified
- Strong commercial Building Surveying experience
- Ideally 5+ years’ post-qualification or equivalent experience
- Proven experience delivering commercial refurbishment and capital projects
- Comfortable managing contractors and consultants across multiple live projects
- Experience of acquisition and disposal technical due diligence
- Knowledge of dilapidations and statutory compliance
- Able to work autonomously across a UK-wide portfolio
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
