An established commercial property consultancy is seeking a Building Surveyor to join its Building Consultancy team, based in either Southampton or Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Building Surveyor to develop technical expertise across a varied portfolio of commercial property instructions, manage their own work and progress towards chartership where applicable.
Role & Responsibilities of the Associate Building Surveyor:
- Undertake a range of professional building surveying instructions across commercial property
- Assist with building surveys, schedules of condition, dilapidations and defect investigations
- Support the delivery of refurbishment, maintenance and alteration projects
- Assist with contract administration and project management duties
- Prepare technical reports, specifications and schedules of work
- Provide advice on building defects, planned maintenance and property-related matters
- Undertake site inspections and liaise with clients, contractors and consultants
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Work alongside senior surveyors on larger and more complex instructions
- Contribute to the continued development of the Building Consultancy team
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Building Surveying or a related property discipline
- MRICS qualified
- Previous experience within a building surveying consultancy
- Good understanding of professional and project-based building surveying services
- Experience working with commercial property would be advantageous
- Strong technical knowledge and report writing skills
- Confident communicating with clients and other property professionals
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple instructions
- Ambitious and keen to develop professionally within an established consultancy
Salary & Benefits
- £65,000 – £68,000 base salary
