Senior / Associate Cost Manager

We are pleased to be partnering with Ridge & Partners to recruit a Senior Cost Manager to join their expanding cost management team in Reading.

Public or private sector, new development, regeneration or refurbishment: they achieve impactful results through their technical expertise and hands-on support from a vast range of services. 

The cost management team in Reading provide a comprehensive range of services from cost planning and procurement through to post contract and employers agent services, supporting clients through whole project life cycle. Having secured prestigious long term projects ranging in value from £750K to £400M, they are looking for experienced individuals to be responsible for a wide range of services, and support the continued growth of the team.

Role and responsibilities of the Senior Cost Manager:

  • Provide a variety of pre and post contract services including:
    • Cost Planning at various RIBA stages including producing preliminary and detailed cost estimates (from feasibility through to detailed design)
    • Provide advice on procurement strategy, risk management, value engineering and the overall tendering process
    • Provide advice on contract arrangements
    • Prepare tender documents
    • Advise clients on tenders when received, including undertaking a full tender evaluation
    • Prepare contract documentation
    • Provide advice on contractual matters / procedures
    • Valuing completed work and approving progress payments
    • Monitor changes in design and measure, value and negotiates variations
    • Budget management and cost reporting to the client
    • Negotiating final accounts
    • Development / fund monitoring surveying services 
  • Work closely with the Team and mentoring, developing and working with graduates
  • Develop existing and new business streams and client relationships to expand the Cost Management discipline within Reading and the Thames Valley

Skills & experience of the Senior Cost Manager

  • Ideally MRICS
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Confidence and excellent communication skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Leadership skills to drive projects to a successful conclusion
  • Interested in using computers for measurement, calculations, and testing designs
  • NEC 4 and JCT contract administration

Salary and benefits:
